GSM-PRO2 series communication modules from CONTA-CLIP feature a Modbus RTU (RS485) interface that enables easy data exchange with other controllers. The modules operate in slave mode and can, for example, provide a PLC with added GSM functionality via an easy plug connection to the RS485 port directly on the C-type mounting rail. The GSM-PRO-CON extension module from CONTA-CLIP makes wiring even simpler. Plugged into the GSM-PRO2 module, it offers front-access terminals for connection to the controller. The GSM-PRO2 parameterization software can be programmed to send a text or email fault message to specified recipients when the status of the PLC input changes. Prompted by a text message that is sent to the GSM-PRO2 module, data is written into the PLC's digital and analog registers via the Modbus RTU interface. The PLC, acting as a master, reads out the data in order to trigger the corresponding actions. Various communication modules with and without GPS functionality are available for all common wireless standards up to 4G. Apps for iPhone and Android devices enable flexible monitoring and control and provide an instant overview over the statuses of several modules at once. Users do not need any programming skills to parameterize the modules. Firmware updates and online configuration changes can be easily carried out at any time via the GSM network, even after installing and commissioning the modules.

Connection technology expert CONTA-CLIP supplies versatile components for simple and time-saving cable management. The tool-less KDS and KES cable entry systems enable easy routing and flexible rearrangement of cables and conduits in enclosures and control cabinets, with reliable strain relief and IP66 ingress protection. To install any number of differently sized and shaped cables, enclosures no longer need to be fitted with variously sized openings, reducing the machining effort to a minimum. This enables manufacturers to supply fully sealed, preconfigured machine enclosures and control cabinets without knowing the exact final wiring requirements. One-piece KES plates with push-through membranes enable high-density routing of up to 32 unassembled cables, wires, or conduits. The multi-part KDS system features a frame that can always stay in place once it is installed – removable sealing elements in different sizes can be inserted to change the assembly as needed. As a result, stock-keeping costs are also significantly reduced, since there is no need for various same-size enclosures with a range of different prepared openings. The KDSClick system consists of only three basic components: frames, inlays, and sealing elements. The sealing elements are available in over 100 variants for diameters ranging from 2 mm to 35 mm, with 1, 2, and 4 slots, for industrial flat ribbon cables, and as blind plugs. The frames are available for 4, 6, 8, or 10 sealing elements. Featuring an injected foam gasket, they preserve the IP66 protection rating even on painted or rough surfaces. To accommodate the selected sealing elements, various inlays (available in I, T, +, and ++ shapes) can be simply inserted in the frame. KDS-FP flange plates hold two or three KDSClick modules and provide space for a total of up to 30 sealing element positions, making them ideal for control cabinets that require a lot of wiring. CONTA-CLIP furthermore offers the KDS-R series for quick, tool-less assembly in metric M20 to M63 round enclosure openings. This system consists of a frame with an integrated gasket, a thread and locking adapter, a locknut, and sealing elements with optional inlays. The KDS program also includes KDS-FB frames for industrial flat ribbon cables. These are available in four frame widths and different partitions for flat as well as round cables.

Introducing GSM-PRO2 and GSM-PRO2E communication modules, CONTA-CLIP presents economic 4G wireless remote control and maintenance solutions for decentralized applications. If no 4G network is available, the modules automatically fall back on 3G or 2G networks. Users can enhance the GSM-PRO2 module by adding inputs and outputs using I/O extension modules. The basic GSM-PRO2E device features four relay outputs and 10 inputs. I/Os can be configured for digital (24V DC) or analog (0...10V and 0[4]...20mA) signals, as required. The manufacturer supplies suitable models for the European as well as the US market. GSM-PRO modules automatically alert users via text or email messages when the monitored process reaches a defined state or preset limits are exceeded. Control-room staff or service technicians can switch the digital relay outputs of the GSM-PRO2 via text messages. The devices' log functions enable tracking of communications, process values of the analog inputs, and I/O activation events over freely programmable periods of time. Log files can be read out via a USB interface or sent to an email address. Apps for iPhone and Android devices enable fast and easy monitoring and control of the communication modules and allow for a quick overview of all I/O statuses for several modules at once. Parameterization requires no programming skills. Firmware updates and configuration changes can be easily carried out at any time via the GSM network, even after installation and commissioning of the modules.

CONTA-CLIP provides all necessary tools for customizing its UL- and VDE-certified VK series cabling ducts. The VK-S cutter allows for shortening up to 125 mm wide standard or halogen-free cabling ducts to the required length. Cuts are clean, without burrs, and with the exact required angle. This tool can be installed at a workbench. VK-AKZ notching pliers are made for breaking out sections of the side walls cleanly and completely all the way down to the base of the cabling duct. Expanding rivets can be processed safely and quickly using the SN-SW setting tool. Featuring a long shaft, it facilitates setting rivets in deep channels or in other difficult-to-access positions. CONTA-CLIP supplies VK cabling ducts with a length of two meters. These ducts made of rigid PVC are notable for their excellent form stability. They feature tight-fitting covers that nevertheless allow for very easy detachment and reattachment. The material is lead-free, flame-retardant, and self-extinguishing according to UL 94 V-0. CONTA-CLIP also provides cabling ducts in accordance with VDE 0472 part 815 for use in public buildings. These are manufactured from halogen-free plastic that does not release toxic gases in case of a fire. Moreover, this material meets the F2 and I3 requirements of the NF F 16-101 railway standards. CONTA-CLIP also supplies miscellaneous accessories such as flexible cabling ducts, coiled tubing, wire holders, support lugs, and expanding rivets.

CONTA-CLIP now offers a combination of a hydraulic hand pump and sheet-metal punching tool. Users can thereby produce break-outs in control cabinets for KDSClick, KDS-FB, KDS-KV, and KES cable entries within a few minutes. The hydraulic hand pump contains no hose and features a user-friendly, compact design. It weighs only 2 kg. The hydraulic cylinder can be rotated and swiveled by 360° along three axes, allowing for flexible use even in hard-to-reach places. The punching tool includes round hole punchers for all diameters from M20 to M63 for KDS-KV separable cable glands and square and rectangular hole punchers for all KDSClick, KDS-FB, and KES cable entries as well as for 110 by 131 mm KDS-FP flange plates. In order to create a break-out in a sheet-metal enclosure, the hydraulically operated draw bolt is inserted in a bore hole. Next, stamp and matrix are fixed with counter nuts both on the inside and outside. When operated, the draw bolt pulls stamp and matrix towards each other, producing the opening in the required size. The built-in punch-hole marking tip can be used to clearly punch-mark the drill points for screw-on attachment of the cable entry. Stamps are available for 3 mm sheet steel and 2 mm stainless steel.

CONTA-CLIP further enhances its range of usability aids for VK cabling ducts, adding fast-mount wire holders. The wire holders can be clipped into the cabling ducts without tools. They make it easier to neatly arrange conductors and keep signal and power lines clearly apart. They also simplify adding new wiring, since existing cables stay put and do not come lose and entangled when the cover is removed. Last but not least, users will find it easier to clean their well-organized cabling duct of dust. The wire holders are available in two versions. The DHG type holder has closed spring brackets – cables can be pushed in from above. It comes in three sizes: 34 x 35 mm, 34 x 53 mm and 53 x 75 mm. The DHGB holder, on the other hand, is a small clip that securely holds cable ties of any size. The wire holders are made of RoHS compliant PC and PA. They are suitable for ambient temperatures from -20 °C to +60 °C.
