The booming electric vehicle sector has created a huge surge in the demand for charging stations. As a result, the number of suppliers who need reliable connection technology for their products has multiplied within a few years. CONTA-CLIP supplies manufacturers of wallboxes and other charging stations with a large range of connection terminals for communication and power supplies, as well as relay modules and robust cable management systems. Solutions include, for example, the SRK terminal block series, which offers safe and quick screw connection for rigid and flexible wires with and without wire-end ferrules. CONTA-CLIP expands its range of transformer terminals, adding the innovative PTKS 4 series with push-in connection. Thanks to the tool-free push-in system for connecting rigid wires or wires with end ferrules, the PTKS 4 series simplifies wiring considerably and minimizes the time required. The high contact force of the push-in spring ensures secure fixation of the wire ends even in the event of strong vibrations and mechanical shocks. For convenience, the transformer terminals are terminated from the top, via an integrated pusher that can be operated with light pressure and without any special tools. The terminals are available in 1- or 2-pole versions for 4-mm˛ wire cross sections. 2- or 3-pole insulated plug-in cross connectors allow for easy potential and power distribution between terminals. Due to their two-part structure of basic clamp and cover, PTKS 4 terminals are well suited for automated soldering processes. After soldering the coil wire, the cover can easily be pushed onto the clamp. The transformer terminal covers can be marked using standard SB 7.5 markers from CONTA-CLIP.

Many waterworks stations and agriculture applications use compact controllers for pump or ventilation systems, which are often installed in hard-to-reach or remote places. Inspection and maintenance is not feasible for these off-grid controllers and therefore can raise considerable personnel costs. For such scenarios, Germany-based connection technology specialist CONTA-CLIP now offers a particularly economical and easy-to-retrofit solution: the GSM-TMM modem converts all messages from the controller's fault output to text messages and automatically sends them to up to five recipients. The GSM-TMM module uses the mobile communications standards LTE-M or NB-IoT, ensuring cost-efficient and energy-saving operation. The compact device in a housing measuring only 40 mm x 65 mm x 110 mm is suitable for all controllers with a live interference output and is ready for use in just a few easy steps. For easy parameterization, the modem is connected via USB to a PC running at least Windows 10. During this process, the GSM-TMM does not require an extra power supply. Once a SIM card has been inserted, the modem and controller fault outputs can be powered via a 230 V AC, 12 V DC or 24 V AC/DC supply connected to the modem’s external screw terminals. The modem features a red/green LED on its front, which, through permanent or flashing lights, indicates operating states, text message dispatch, configuration errors and potential reception problems.

At the first Swiss edition of the established all about automation tradeshow, which will take place in Zurich from 31 August to 1 September 2022, CONTA-CLIP will present its connection technology portfolio at booth A16. The family-run German company, one of Europe’s leading manufacturers of terminal blocks and cable management systems, has been producing electrical and electronic connection technology for virtually all industrial applications for over 40 years. The product range includes terminal blocks and accessories, cable management systems, electric and electronic control cabinet components, marking systems, housings, PCB terminals and PCB connectors. Tradeshow highlights will include the new KDSI-SR cable entry solution from the KDS range and the innovative PRK terminal block family featuring push-in wire connection. KDS cable entry systems provide maximum flexibility due to their modular design consisting of a one-piece frame, removable inlays and sealing elements. Cables and conduits of various sizes can be replaced at any time without disassembling the entire frame or removing plugs, while at the same time preserving the high IP66 ingress protection rating. This enables control cabinet manufacturers and machine builders to pre-configure their products with KDS cable entry systems without knowing the end users’ exact cabling requirements. The new PRK series is one of the most advanced push-in terminal block lines on the market today. This new, wide terminal range provides large diversity and particularly easy handling due to enlarged insertion channels, minimized engaging forces and integrated pushers. PRK terminals are extremely space-saving due to their tall design and wire insertion from above, which allows for minimal installation distance to wiring ducts.

CONTA-CLIP now also offers DIN-rail relay socket bases from its PRS plug-in relay system with push-in connection. The new PPRS sockets are available for relays with 1, 2 or 4 switching contacts. The push-in wire connection significantly reduces the time required for wiring. Inserted wires are loosened via integrated pushers, which can be operated without special tools. The relay socket bases are designed for a rated voltage of 300 V and can be flexibly configured with CONTA-CLIP's PRS relays for voltage ranges from 12 to 220 V DC or 12 to 230 V AC as well as the associated plug-in modules with LED status indicators. Each connection has a test tap for easy checking of the applied voltage. The comprehensive accessory range also includes the pluggable and touch-proof external cross-connection system AQI/PPRS for potential distribution to adjacent socket bases. Other feature options include snap-on brackets that fix the relays in place and also hold MC-MM-series markers.

CONTA-CLIP expands its range of KES cable entry plates, adding eight new versions made of certified food-grade material for different cable diameters and numbers of entry points. Like the existing KES solutions, the hygienic variants from the new KES-GB-FDA series enable fast and particularly space-saving routing of up to 32 non-assembled cables into control cabinets or machine housings. The plates, manufactured from a robust polyamide frame injected with elastomer, include snap-in latches for easy mounting. They are first inserted into a 36 mm x 112 mm opening from the outside of the housing and then fixed from the inside with screws. After piercing the outer membrane at marked insertion points, the cables can be easily pushed through. Conically shaped and TPE-molded sleeves on the back of the plate ensure reliable IP66 sealing and strain relief. The FDA-compliant elastomer used for the new KES-GB-FDA series meets the hygienic requirements for food approval according to 1935/2004/EC and (EU) 10/2011. The cable entry plates furthermore feature smooth surfaces, rounded corners and ECOLAB-certified material resistance to industrial cleaning agents to meet all hygiene requirements for use in the food or pharmaceutical industries.
